Scion Spy Pics 2

"We're into the second week of the Scion tC Hot Rod project. After the clean up was finished. The cage has been installed (25.5). Note bottom tubes are under floor pan. The frame will be welded to the original sheet metal at all possible locations. The tubing to the rear shock towers are mandated b the 25.5 spec. The front shock towers are being seam welded for strength. The rack has been converted to non power-steering. The top pic is of the new GM Hub assembly with the Mark Williams hubs and carbon brakes (same as the Honda hub). This gives Mark Williams pretty good coverage of the fwd drag race market.
Next we'll show the rear carbon straignt axle, the diffusor, and the mandated steel roof that replaces the glass roof. We decided to put it in after the roll cage is welded." Bob Norwood

Looks nice guys. Whats this about the tubes needing to be tied into the rear strut towers. I read by sfi book cover to cover but it didn't specify for a fwd. It just showed common procedure fo a rear wheel drive. There really only concerned about the driver compartment anyway, at least to my knowledge that is. Any elaberation would be appreciated thanks.
The book doesn't specify anything being fwd or rwd. There's one spec for everything. You're right, it doesn't make sense for a fwd car, but we're not about to build it different only to find it's not legal!
What I'm saying is that I didn't know anything outside the the drivers compartment was mandatory. A rear wheel drive can be narrow and to the suspension points where a our cars are wide and to the strut towers. They don't show it like that in there specs.
They show 3 or 4 different options for the rear bars. We can only assume that you have to pick one. Even though they're not exactly like in the pics, if the pic calls for 1.25" .058 in an X, then that's what you do...
All the drivetrain parts (brakes, hubs, and axles) are from Mark Williams. Have to contact them for price. The spindles are oem GM pieces. Still deciding on trans, leaning towards Xtrac...
