rough idling
as usual when i woke up this morning, the first thing i did was go out and turn my car on with the heat blasting to get the car nice and toasty by the time i have to leave. soo...i took the car out this morning to go to school, and as soon as i drive off i notice its a bit jerky with the throttle. i stalled out in the middle of a 4 way stop, and it wasnt a usual stall. it like stopped, jerked foward, stoped, jerked foward and finally died. i started it back up again and reversed out of the intersection. i knew something was up, i just kinda sat there for alittle bit and let the other cars go. i notice the idle RPM jumping up to 1500, then back down then up to 2k and then back down. i took the car around the block to see if the problem would correct itself because it is quite a distance to my school and i have to take the freeway. anyways, problem is still there, and i ended up taking my moms car to school (i hate driving her boat). any suggestions on what to do? from what it felt like, it seemed like either the timing is off, or one of my cylinders is misfiring. but no clue :D any help would be fantastic.
sound like you need to adjust the cold idli valve located right under the throttle body remove the 2 8mm and with a flat head screw driver back the vavle back down
i went out to the car, and checked the oil and its pitch black, maybe thats the problem. when i got the car they did maitinence on it but they didnt check the oil or refill any of the fluids.
Might want to check your TPS sensor its behind the throttle body, i had a similar problem with hesitation and the RPM's moving up and down with out the car actually reving it was my intake that was messing with my distributor wiring check for that.
after i got off school today, i decided to pull the car into the driveway and have a good and through look at it. checked the TB sensor, MAF, and the TB itsself to make sure it was opening all the way. i decided to pull all 4 spark plugs, and look at the contact patches between the wires and the plugs, and when i got to plug number 3, i realized that the #3 wire wasnt making contact with the spark plug, and the cylinder wasnt firing at all. cleaned em off a bit and threw em back in and the thing works fine now :D.
