Damn I've never heard of that?! So are you saying that your 1st gear is gated to where 3rd is supposed to be? So is your 3rd gear in 5th ear's place? Maybe give us a description of the adjustable linkage you are talking about, I have never heard of this.

maybe you have a hf tranny and the gears are so long you think 1st is in 3rd and so on when i did my motor swap i reused my hf tranny bc i was waiting on my zc tranny to come in i could do 60 mph in 1st gear and 110 in 2nd.

LOL that is probably the problem. Holy crap I knew the HF gears were tall, but I didn't know 2nd gear could bring you to 110

Damn, did your transmission's insides somehow get fucked? That is really odd.

BUMP to see if anyone else has had this problem.

there should be a way to adjust your shiftlinkage from under the car...search on it a bit, i have seen a couple of threads on them...it is probably from a company called HCP, i know they make one...maybe they have online instructions?
HTH since no one else is helping

You are going to need to get under the car and begin adjusting the linkage. It is usually two rods that are thread together with jam nuts locking them in place. IMO the adjustable linkage is a royal pita. If you can't seem to fix it give hcp a call and they should be able to help you out.

I actually have that same one. Its the OLD *** HCP one. What you need to do is loosen the jam nut, put shifter in neutral and center it (Helps to have a friend hold it in place). You then adjust the length and then tighten. Tell friend to go through the gears and see if it works. If not do it again. Them things are a PITA to get adjusted sometimes.

Also make sure you tighten that jam nut really tight or your shifter will become loose and not want to go side-side into the gears. Meaning you move the shifter but the part on the tranny wont move.
