Stuttering and hopping on B16'ed EF
Hey guys i bought an EF today that has a B16 swap w/ a YS1 LSD tranny and a PR3 ecu. After driving it for about 100 mi. ive noticed several things.
1. Shuttering at over 3800 rpm (cruising) the shutters happen in a split second and at under 3800 they are non-existant. Anybody know what this is?
2. When im turning while on the throttle in a low gear (1st or 2nd) the car seems to hop, but once straightened out it goes away. The seller told that its typical of the LSD but i think its just wierd.
Thanks in advance guys!

if your outer wheel is hoping while you turn it sound more like you have a locked diff than an LSD
cant help you on the shuddering thing, its kinda hard to diagnose noises and engine feel via de intranet

yah i know, would this be typical of a fuel problem?

it should NEVER hop when driving straight if the diff is the issue. if its hopping off a steraight line pull u got other issues man

The studdering is most likely a faulty IACV and the hopping when turning is the LSD, I had this happen to me on my YS1. A piece of the diff cracked and when I would turn the diff would tilt causing it to bind up. Hope that helps, any CEL at all? - poke.

no im not throwing any codes, would the LSD issue need to be taken care of immediately? the previous owner told me that it was nothing to worry about and that it always did that. im gunna give him a call tonight

ok i found out that part of it is a problem with the throttle cable (too loose) as i dont think that its lubed to well. but as for those "kicks" while driving, could it be an ecu problem? one of my friends thinks that the car might be going in and out of closed/open loop? any guess?
Ok guys i have an update...
after driving the car more i have noticed some things, and i think these two problems are related.
1. When driving at part throttle car will randomly hiccup for a split second then return to normal.
2. when going from 1/4 throttle to 3/4, the car hiccups again, car slowly accelerates then it will suddenly take off.
3. When full throttled the cars acceleration is heavly delayed, kinda feels like the engine is pausing then just takes off.
I know its hard to describe, but maybe one of you can help me out. dont know if it helps but the car has been converted to OBD-0. My gut feeling is that it is either something electrical, fuel, or ecu related. is there anything i can do to check if certain things are doing there jobs? thanks
