Recommended replacement brake pads for Gen6?
Its that time to replace my stock brake pads and I'd like to get any suggestions for brake pads that are superior to the stock Honda pads. Honda wants $65.00 a pair, and I would think there are better out there for the price. I simply want something better than stock, with quicker/shorter stopping power and ideally cleaner (less dust). I don't need race or track quality, just a street performance.
I've done some quick net searchs to find the following brands. Any suggestions on these or others?
- AXXIS
- AEM
- HAWK
I don't plan to replace my rotors yet and am not a performance freak, so no need to suggest perf brake kits or anything.
I appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

axxis are junk pads,
i would go hawk hp's or hp+'s depending on you driving technique also ss braided brake lines and using a good brake fluid wouldnt hurt

i am one of the brake guru's around here and have tested and seen tested many different pads
the one thing I know is that brake pads depend on the car and driver
I use Carbotech Engineering's Panther Plus pad, but I also run track events where high temperature and extreme braking is taking place
for everyday driving, trust me no street driving whether aggresive or not can compare to the track, any pad will suffice.Carbotech panthers & Hawk HP's are the best choice, but rather expensive, AEM pads are just sold by name, EBC green stuffs are pretty good and I have never heard anyone complain about their street performance, AXXis pads are junk and are not rotor friendly from what I understand.
Basically this is what I suggest you do:
1) flush your fluid and put in a higher temperature fluid like ATE super blue or Motul, but remember these fluids retain water faster than the average DOT 3 fluid and will need to be changed more often
2) by a cheap set of carbon metallic pads and try them out, if there is a big difference in braking look into a higher quality pad that will last longer
3)call Andie at Carbotech Engineering and discuss with him what you want in a pad and have him help you make a choice that will best benifit you, trust me you will not regret it and it is free
i hope this helps and let me, if not everyone else, know what you decided

My 2 cents
Axxis has a new pad out, the Axxis Ultimate. The guys at StopTech www.stoptech.com use them on their big brake upgrades. I'll be using those next. ~$70/set.
Do NOT try and use Project mu pads though... Japan stuff... also crap stuff... at either $110/set to $170/set (front pads only!), they pretty much jack ya, and are WORSE than stock pads.

Thanks to all that replied.
Between the posts here and doing a few more searches on Honda-tech forums, I've decided. I've ordered a pair of Hawk HPS for $44 + $8 s/h (2-day) from TireRack.com and will see how they go. This was the cheapest I could find with two-day shipping.
I primarily made the decision based on so many good comments on Hawk versus other brands, and price. Most of the other ones you all were suggesting seemed comparable, significantly more expensive, and/or probably more than I really need for my aggressive style city driving.
I thank you all for your help, and appreciate the remarks. Its nice to have a body of folks to turn to when you need real comments.

Guess it won't affect your decision but hps's wear out pretty fast. They're not too dusty on the street (opinion) but after a weekend of autoX they leave a nice coat. I think they wear a bit too fast for full street pads but once again thats an opinion. Gluck on your decision.
