I just got sone swapping over a complete 94 LS rear suspension to my 95 DX Coupe and everything went fine until we connected the e brake cables(yes the are from the teg). the cables had no slack in them at all and we had to struggle to get everything connected... then of course the rear brakes were completely locked. even with the handle all the way down and the adjustment nut all the way backed out there was no slack and the e brake was locked. any ideas? every post i have read here and on tamparacing has said that the teg cables are the ones to use.

check the cable routing again, cause you might have a kink some where. gl

 

Did you bleed the brakes before trying the ebrake cable? If there is no fluid it will lock the brakes down even when you take off the lever. In that case you'll need to take off the caliper and turn the piston clockwise with something that will fit in there like a metal lever type tool or something. Just look at it and find something that will turn it.

 

thats one thing i was thinking about. we did mount the cables in the same locations at the stock cables... i was wondering if we should have done that or not, but it looked ok. i will check again tomorrow.

 

we actually did it both ways. we messed with it when the caliper was dry, but we did crank the caliper piston all the way back before we installed them. then we tried again after the system was bled.

I had a problem with my hatch, the drivers side teg cable seemed shorter than the passenger side. In the end I just had to back the adjuster nut out all the way. Mabey you will have to get the cables from an 92-95 ABS 2 door. If you can get those, it will work perfectly. Just sucks that it's $80+ more dollars to spend...

You should be able to sell those teg cables without any problems too...

 

I remember the Integra ebrake cables being a bit of a tight fit on my Dx Coupe as well, but they do work.

Gimme a couple minutes and I'll go look under my car to verify where I routed my cables.

 

Car's too low to crawl under! Heh. I just checked it out and everything is routed the same as the stock cables were. We have a stock EJ coupe in the shop so I compared it to mine. The only thing is that my left ebrake cable was squeezed up closer on the frame. It is a tighter fit, like I mentioned earlier. My cables are from a 3 DR GSR, so I'm not sure if there are differences between those and the LS in terms of length.

quick question... did you use the rubber grommets too? or did you leave them off?

 

i did a 96 gsr rear disc into a 96 ex. the cables were damn short so i had to make new bracket locations. even then, it was still short, the nut that holds the cables in isn't on all the way like stock. it works good however. over time, it loosened and i could tigthen the nut.

 

Which rubber grommets?
