Default o2 sim?

Hey so my cat is going bad on my 98 ex, and ive been told by man not to buy a new one, becuase its not really necessary, and that my cat really isnt that much worse that i was the day i got the car. So im looked around online for a o2 sim type deal and everyone wants you to pay like 10$ for one little resistor. Anyone know what kinda this is and how its done so i can save my self a bit of money?

how do u know your cat is going bad? how many miles do you have on your car? are you boosted?

if you car has less than 80kmi, you still have federal emissions warranty on the cat, so you can get it changed for free

can you put the sim in without the secondary 02 sensor installed?
The reason i ask is that i'd rather get the test pipe without the bung so i can save the cat and 02.

If not where are people mounting these sims? inside or outside the car??

any help would be great because i just bought the sim from 02sim.com

Yea i got the same deal going on....ordered a test pipe and am fed up with the CEL light, basically you cut off your secondary o2 sensor, and theres a rubber plug underthere, so you just wire up the o2 sim, and stick it on the area the pervious wireing for the sensor was.....that make any sence?

exactly what do you mean by any sense??
the fact of installing an o2 simulator or putting it where the previous wiring was??

installing it is for the purpose of the CEL not coming on for that reason.

installing it there?? i dont think that is where i would when i do mine but dont know really

If this helps anyone I emailed o2sim.com....

> do you know first hand if the 00 honda civic SI
> (B16A) needs to have the
> secondary 02 sensor installed for this to work, or
> will it throw a cell. The
> reason I ask is I need to know whether or not
> to order the TestPipe with or without the bung for
> the sensor. Your FAQ does
> not specify, and I could not find out on any message
> boards.
> thanks
