Default Alternator problems?

ok so whenever I hit a puddle that splashes a lot of water up under my car the battery light comes on for about 5 seconds and then it goes off. I just replaced my battery because my car stopped turning on. I thought that would fix the problem but it didnt. When my alternator went out before the battery light came on and stayed on. Any one who can help me figure out why my battery light only comes on when i hit puddles would be of great help to me.

check wiring on the alternator...make sure cables and connectors are insulated. water may be causing a bad ground somewhere...
