Default b18b1 dyno/pics (56k beware)

set-up:
1989 civic dx
1996 ls motor (b18b1)
1993 ls tranny (s1)
fully gutted (dash and one seat remains)
skunk2 cam gears
skunk2 short throw
skunk2 cat-back
custom cold-air intake
hasport motor mounts
apex s-afc

this was done at p1 auto, on their mustang dyno. according to p1 auto this
dyno was compared to a local dynojet and this mustang dyno showed numbers
14.5% lower. so this car's 121.1whp and 112.5tq with the 14.5% added to each
comes to be 138.7whp and 128.8tq. (estimated dynojet #'s) either way leave
comments please, i haven't seen many other b18b1 dyno's to compare with so let
me know how this looks.

Most B18b's are up around 145 hp/130 tq. I believe the B18a1 is about 130hp/128tq.

No intenally stock B18B is going to put out 145/130. After all, the motor was only rated STOCK at 142/127. And these numbers are at the flywheel. These numbers are better than non-VTEC B20Z numbers. A good, strong B18B with good quality bolt-ons will probably put out closer to 130/120. Also, these are Dynojet numbers. Numbers could be different with another dyno.

Get rid of the stock exhaust (that REALLY chokes a B-series motor), get a decent header, and get a real CAI. Doing these mods will increase your numbers significantly.

Put on a V-tec head and it will be fast. Your setup is cool, nice numbers.

i wanted to get the cam gears and the safc tuned because this car has been running as is for over a year now and coming close to its second year so i figured i'd tune it until it gets re-tuned years down the road. it will take years because im saving for full-race turbo set-up on really poor college budget however after this coming summer the turbo will be installed.

yes, the car is running off a pr4.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by vtecn8ive &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">No intenally stock B18B is going to put out 145/130. the car has a skunk2 mega power 2.5" cat-back for an exhaust, but i do agree about the header and intake. however, ls-turbo will replace both the intake and header with turbo parts so thats why these mods will not be upgraded.

this motor feels great, torque at all times and with it being fully gutted its really feels insane. you can hear the exhaust since its just sheet metal so at WOT the car gets extremely loud. off the line this car is a beast, 3rd gear starts off good but is too long, 4th and 5th are mainly fun in traffic just using all the low-end torque. however, this car still is pretty damn fast its been run against a lot of cars and has rarely lost, it holds it own for the small amount of mods done to it. some stop light races that the car has won have been against a rb20'd 240sx that has lots of mods and had 3 people in car; i had myself and a friend. a prelude type-sh with i/e/springs (could only see visible mods), and a hand-ful of other mildy modded cars. i have been planning on going to the strip once i get new axles and compared to cars this car has ran against it is definitely running 14's but only the strip will tell how deep into the 14's.

more like 15.1 in the 1/4mile. ALSO i would like to add that mustang dynos actually read HIGHER than dynojets. so your hp should be like 115whp.

are you sure about mustang dynos reading higher? because im looking at p1's website right now and it says on the site itself "DynoJet horsepower number's are generally 10% higher than on a Mustang Dyno." , and i even asked the dudes who worked there and they said that this particular dyno gave "14.5-15% lower readings" compared to a local dynojet.

Why would you say that? It is true...I netted about 20 more wheel horses with a Vtec head.

i'll believe it when i see it. when MIR or e-town opens we can have a little h-t meet. really i never seen it done. especially in a 91 si with full interior. make sure motor mount is fixed and have good tires. i wanna see it run at it's prime.

also what transmission do you have.

hmm, a friend who drove my car, who has a sohc vtec with nos that ran a 14.9 in a heavier car, said that my car was definitely faster and definitely in the 14's. i sure hope my car can run 14's, it doesnt feel like a 15 second car. but im not saying it will definitely run 14s i just need to take it to the damn strip. hopefully one of these coming weekends i can make it to rockingham. however, many other topics in honda-tech that i found have been about similar set-ups and similar mods to what i have and have run in the 14's. i wish i could link you, but im in the middle of class right now and dont have the time to search

i think you wont because of your tall geared tranny. i have a 92 integra ls with s1 and it's gearing sucks. with the other dude it musta been a one time wonder or miracle. he had bad tires and a 2.1 60', broken motor mount and and if he has the ls tranny. thats too many odds for 14.7 run with only intake and exhaust.

i just find it ahrd to believe. but i wouldnt mind putting a b18a or b with my b16 head.

true that, the good thing is i'll be netting close to 100mph in the 1/4 and i hit about 90 something at the top of 3rd, so i'll only have to deal with the long *** 3rd gear, and then barely into 4th... i think with a 2.0 60' ill be able to run 14's, or else be really close.
