ECM is melted ..any ideas?
I have a 93 EX coupe with an OBDII LsVTEC, and recently the idle started surging and then it died.
Smelled a faint electrical smell...not sure where.
No spark, No fuel.
Did all the normal main relay checks and fuse checks etc.
Had voltage every where, (dizzy, fuel pump, etc) but no start, and the check engine light remained constantly lit with the key on the on position.
Cleared the back up memory fuse for the ECM, and still nothing.
Grounded the engine block, replaced the main relay...
starter turns, still no spark nor fuel.
Had it towed to the dealer, and they said that the ECM was melted.
They said they would try and trace where the short is with a 3 hour cap @ $75 an hour.
And if they couldn't find it in three hours, they would check and see if I want them to keep checking.
ANy ideas that would melt the ECM but NOT blow a fuse?
I found a chipped P28 here at Superior Racing Development for $350.
Is that a good deal? any other places to shop?
THnaks! all help is appreciated.
