If i was to do this, how would the lines in the headlight affect the light output?would they cause the beam to bounce all over?also, is there anyway to shave down these lines from the inside to make them clear?
stock headlights arent ment to handle the extra output HID's will give you.... yes the beam will probably bounce all over the place.. resulting in a very bad beam pattern... and possibly blinding on coming drivers.... your light output will also depend on what temp the bulbs you'll be getting are
nope, the stock housing is not meant to project light nor does it cut it off above a certain level. what you get are scattered rays everywhere. the road WILL be brighter to you at the cost of other drivers' vision.
if you want to see what the glare is all about, look at HID's in stock halogen housing when the car enters into a tunnel or drives beneath the underpass. you will see light scattered all over the walls of the tunnel, including the top/ceiling of the tunnel.
