Default lowering the 1st gen crx

Have many people here lowered their 1st gen crx with the stock torsion bars? If so how much and do you bottom out all the time, and had any problems?

It's rough, REALLY rough. I'd have to say it depends where you live if its tolerable or not. Whatever DO NOT SLAM IT. Lower it like 1"-1.5" or so. Check out redpepperracing.com , not many people on this website have 1g crxs

yeah i agree with the redpepperracing, the best thing to do for the front is to get stiffer tortion bars, then either clamp the rear springs or buy lowering ones. however, there probably arent listings for ones for the back of it, just gotta find ones that fit. good luck

Redpepper is your friend. If anyone has a definitive answer to the torsion bar problem, they'll be over there. I've got an '87 CRX Si, and I went *****-out and put 27mm torsion bars on it. I wouldn't recommend it. Damn car is too stiff for a smooth autocross course now! They're being replaced with some Civic AWD wagon t-bars, which are bigger than stock, but less than the brutal 27mm ones. I traded those to the guy who owns the wagon, since he's got a ZC in it now and wanted the extra stiffness to counteract the increased weight on the nose.

If you go aftermarket, I'd say get 23mm at the most if you plan on ever driving it on the street. Wish I'd heeded that advice myself...
