Skunk2 Full Coil-overs
Im lookin into buyin a suspension setup but i wanna get the best bang for my buck obviously, and i got the setup narrowed down to 2 choices, Full Skunk2 coil overs (not the sleeves) and the KYB agx's with a neuspeed or H&R spring.
And yes i have reasearched, there is little to no information on the Skunk2 coil overs, they aren't even on thier site, so im asking u guys
PS these are goin on my 2000 Civic EX

there was a thread not too long ago about how the coilover spring broke. Here is the link. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1115419
Yes those are the sleeves and they only did that because some dickfuck installed them wrong. Springs just dont break all of the sudden. Try this

I have had the skunkworks coilovers on my EK forever (6a) and I'd vouch for 'em!

The Skunk2 full coilovers are pretty much the same thing as Omnipower. Not exactly sure if the spring rates are the same though. I've also noticed that Skunk2 hasn't really been advertising their new full setup. Email or call Skunk2
yea i email'd em but no reply yet, and im def not callin since they dont have a 1-800 # and i live in MD
thanks 94ex, hey have u had any expirence with the leeves compared to this? im just askin cuz everyone says skunk2 are real stiff (not that i care a lot) but im gettin a good deal on em, so the better the ride better deal i got.

The sleeves from my experience are a little rough. You need to have a strut that is valved to work with you spring rates to get a good ride. If you got a good deal on them then

i dont believe so. they look very different and are advertised very differently.
the "slip overs" and springs are the same i figure.

How do you know that? Can you point to the post where it says they were installed wrong?

Poorly designed springs can break like that when over stressed. Also, if the spring is made out of cheap material, it canbreak like that. It could be just a one-off flaw in the wire that caused it to crack too. I'd like to see someone who knows what they're looking at analyze the spring tho.

If I could get my hands on it, I could probably tell you exactly what happened. The pic is worthless.

If you look at the spring you can clearly see that one side of it hit the tophat where the spring goes in. Thats what happens when you dont preload the suspension before you drop it, also the slipover coils are 6'' springs and the full coilover spring is 8'' which makes it alot easier to preload.
Seriously man, we all know that all manufacturers even the best ones have some flaws but how often do you hear of a sk2 coil snapping? Thats the first ive seen.

thats not entirely true at all. most ppl who use adjustable spring kits like GC or skunk2 CANT have preload (any more than the weight of the car) or there would be no (very little) range of adjustment. (think about how the sleeve adjusts) its very common, typical, without the use of helper/tender springs that the springs are loose at full droop, ive never come across a spring failing before. i wouldnt necessarily put it to installation error.

you can't say that the damage wasn't created after the spring faild tho. I'd like to see the spring itself. You could tell if the break was all at once, ot if it cracked and over time finally gave out. Unless this guy was jumping his car I'd venture to guess that a good spring wouldn't have cracked just because it was misaligned. It may have bent, but the force needed to crack a good piece of spring wire that tick would be quite high.
