Default Looking for 12 Secs in my EG:B18C-R

Hi,

am looking to build up my engine to touch the 12 seconds at the tracks, right know am doing 14.0 @ 95 mph, with a stock ITR engine in a EG CX Hatch.

For the upgrade i got some Skunk2 Stage 3 cams or Jun3 Cams, CTR pistons, 310 injectors, Bosh Gas regulator, Hayame Adj Cams, 4-1 Mugen header, Chiped P30, ARP Studs. All this not yet installed.

Anymore info in what other parts i might need to get to my goal will be very appreciated. Thanks!

those cams are over kill for what you are doing to your motor. Get some stage 2's. Hondata, intake, throttle body, flywheel, and some port work.

Yes, that was my plan at first, but i got the cams really cheap, both of them. Now i got to do something about them. Etheir selling them without even try them and go for the lower profile. Or push it a little bit more and building a setup for those cams.

Is it worth it?

I know the GSR head, the one you are using in your setup is perfect for high compression setups, but what would those cams do in a head with more flow like mine?

Keep practicing!! you should be able to touch 12.999 if not faster with the stock motor and some slicks... I averaged 13.5 (13.3 being my all time setup fastest) in my 1999 Si coupe with 22/8/15 M/Ts, hondata, AEM CAI, Apexi WS untuned... I know I would have went high 12's in a hatchback shell. (i/h/e and some slicks should be all you need at the very most... lauch that pig at 8000 rpms)

u should at least be able to hit a 13.9 because my cousin has an ek hatch and he went 14.1 stock motor.basic bolt ons will definately make a diffrence.know he has skunk 2 stage 2 cams and valves and the rest and im sure he will be in the mid 13's with some drags maybe even better.

btw he ran a 14.1 and he wasnt very good at the driving casue he had to get t the hang now he has it so just practice

the biggest issue on your quest for 12's is if you are going to be using slicks. with slicks, a 12 isnt far off at all. all you would need is a good header, a good exhaust, a good intake, and maybe a few more bolt-ons to hit high 12's, in my opinion. type-r motors already come with enough power to get you there, but its traction that becomes the most crucial part of the quarter mile. after the launch, the driving becomes much easier and all you have to rely on is the car's power, which an itr with bolt-on's already has.

i dont think you will need cams on an itr motor if you are going to get slicks. if you arent losing slicks, then internal mods is a good idea. i would go with what these guys are saying.

stage 2 cams, throttle body, a good flowing intake/exhaust system, a vafc, a staged clutch (stage 3 or more), and a lightened flywheel.

You should deff be running faster than a 14.0 my Eg with a B18B runs a 14.2 and all the EG's i have seen with type R's run 12's on slicks hell my boys GsR with type R swap runs a 14.2 on street tires and a 13.8 on slicks your eg should run low 13's on street tires now. but with those mods 12's are a deff especially on some slicks. Good luck to you.

yea like Jeremy said, I run 13.8's on slicks and 14.2's on street tires with the ITR motor in my GSR. With those mods though you should deff be able to do some damage. Good luck.

Thats crazy, that is exacly what I did, only my motor is in a GSR not a hatch. I weigh in at more the 600lbs more and all I have is JDM ITR swap, OBD1 ECU Mugen chip, AEM short ram, M/T 22x8 slicks, custom 2.25" exhaust with stock GSR resinator and MagnaFlow Can. Launching the GSR at 8 grand got me a 13.8 @ 96mph (1.89 60-ft) on the slicks and a 14.3 @ 97mph (2.2 60-ft) on street tires.

Do you have a JDM ITR motor in your hatch or a USDM ITR. The JDM ITR has about 10whp more than the USDM and has better gearing. (JDM)4.875 vs. (USDM)4.4 final drive ratio!

Hey guys guess what Jake Is Cool

The body kit is gone and so are the altezza's. Im running on steelies right now, so get off my back. I don't run 12's either for that matter. 13.8's

You are just going to have to get a feel for it. I actually ran my street tire times on my 17" Konig Heliums with Kumho Ecsta 711 215/40/17 tires. I pulled consistant 2.3 60-ft times but the taller tire helped me out alot on the top end. I noticed that your trap speed is only 95 mph, I was trapping 96 in my integra. So I think you should either invest in some slicks or try a taller street tire. Post up some times when you get everything lined out. Good Luck
