Is there anything short of a reflash that will help us get this car started after an Auto-to-manual swap?

do you have paper work (documentation) for your new ECU? if so bring it to an acura/honda dealer (with new ECU & your key for the car) & the should be able to reprogram it - to match your key

If they say the cannot, INSIST (ask manager to call acura/honda) they double check - because it can DEFINITELY be done

don't forget to bring your spare key too ^

or send the ECU to hondata dealer (see http://www.hondata.com) & have them remove the immobilizer function (you will not have this form of security)

 

For the record/archives it looks like Honda needs the diagnostic port to change the key settings so the car has to be present. Is this true? Proof of otherwise?

yes your car has to be present because they need to power up the ECU, connect it to the immobilizer ring, and have your key inserted in the immobilizer ring.

 

My GF has an immobilizer ring. I should ask her.
