513whp '05 STi inside... i know, its not a honda.
october of 04 we had a very highly regarded shop (KingPin performance) in the Subaru market contact us in regards to producing a very high HP WRx/STi kit using the Garrett GT turbochargers.
well, after the kit design was finalized (Jan 05), KingPin installed and tuned the GT35R kit on a 1 month old '05 Subaru STi.

pump gas @ 22psi (91 octane out here in the heat...):

C16 @ 30psi:

watch out evo's....

Very bad *** numbers, What was it tuned with?? Utec?? Im looking into getting a STI or Evo MR.
How do the evos compare to the STIs??
The conclusion is:
Makes power easy = Evo
Strong Tranny = Sti
Better interior = Sti
handles better on road course = Evo (road and track tested)
Greater accerlation = Sti
It boils down to the Sti is a tad cheaper 3k then the MR, and its tad nicer then the Evo.
I dunno though.. only 1000 MRs were made

Was this on a completely stock bottom end? Is this kit for sale? I have a friend
who has a Sti and is doing a build. I'm gonna pass him the information if he
hasn't already seen it.

our main focus in this kit was to make "easier" power with the wrx/sti, while still maintaining a nice useable powerband.
we've done turbo systems on both the wrx/sti and the evo and have found the wrx/sti to be of better construction all together.
talking power output, with this kit now available, it finally puts the wrx/sti and the evo on a more level playing field
.
this was done on a stock engine and surprisingly a stock clutch (no hard launches/tilton on the way).
edit: utec was used for tuning.
the kit is only available from KingPin Performance http://www.KingPinPerformance.com

That STI is probably the most fun thing to drive. It has such short gear ratios that even with a stock STI you are shifting all the time (3rd gear to get to 60, 5th gear for 100mph) I couldn't IMAGINE driving that with all the power.
500hp+ EVO's and STI's are what dreams are made of..
for me at least

this car will be tuned on a HYDRA ems (MAP based)
the 513hp customer is already building a sleeved bottom, forged piston, big cam motor and looking for more already.

HA HA that's what I was thinking....power 2 weight is a beautiful thing.....It seems
to be a very nice kit....can't wait to see what my friend thinks of it. Is the Sti
block sorta weak? Whats seems to be the limit?
