h22 lsd
i apologize if this seems like a stupid question, but i'm still fairly new to preludes and am always being called a 'musclehead,' so chalk it up to that if this sounds ignorant; but do all h22 trannies have a stock lsd? i hadn't heard anything about them having one stock, but on different forums around here, i've seen many ppl talking about the h22 lsd. i bought my lude from a mechanic locally who, three days ago, frankensteined a new tranny made mostly from a 99 vtec lude, while mine is a 93 vtec. so does it now have a stock lsd? thanks
Well, no US h22 came with LSD, or I think any US tranny at that. The JDM trannies came with LSD as a factory option, but the transmission had "LSD" stamped on the housing, a different transmission code, and you can see straight through the differential thus being "open."

That's actually not entirely true...I've seen the original brochures and you could get LSD as an option here in North America. My guess is that they had to be special order from Japan to get the M2B4 tranny so no one actually bought it as an option.
So the chances of a USDM prelude having a stock LSD are slim to none. Just read the tranny code, it's on the white sticker with barcode on the front of the tranny by the engine flywheel timing plug.
