Default Need help with LS build up!!!!!!!!

I have a 97 lx 4 door honda civic. Like most people I want to keep it a sleeper, I have a LS engine and I was wondering if I could install GSR camshafts or even to a greater point can I install ITR camshafts. I would normally go with after market camshafts, but the problem is I am running on a low budget build up and I have a the opportunity to get ITr or GSR camshafts for cheap.

those cams will not work because they are vtec cams, you need aftermarket ls(non-vtec) cams.

I have also thought about getting a v-tec head on the block. Would I then be able to do such conversion of camshafts, or will it still be a problem.....

you might wanna build up the block when you put the head on, so it'll be more reliable..remember ls blocks aren't made to rev to 8k

We have performance camshafts for the LS head if you decide to stick with that. There are many cams available for the VTEC head if you decide to go that route.

But you cant interchange the cams from those heads. they are totally different design.

Check out my signature for LS non-VTEC build up people @ nonvtec.com. Also, you may look at LS/VTEC though reliability is "questionable" (it just depends on who/how it's built).

True, I had a LS/Vtec in my eg hatch for awhile, and it worked fine with no problems. I would only build the bottom if you're planning to go turbo.
