Default cheap painting on a primed panel

Hey I need some help with painting. Some idiot bumped into a lower rear side panel and left a dent 2 foot long while I was parked at school. Must've been a SUV or something. Anyway, buddy of mine got this kit and put some holes in it and pulled it out nice enough but there were some creases he couldnt get rid of. I really dont care about the looks too much. But he said he could remove the dents. Well he filled in the crevices with filler and primed, etc. He was going to sand it and paint it with spray paint in a car from Car Quest. I told him to stop before he could start painting. Anyone tried to paint with paint in a spray can? He said it wont be perfect but after 10 coats it would look pretty good, especially after adding a clear coat on it.

I'm not looking into wanting a flawless paint job. I'm only using this car until I can save up for a new one. Anyone have any experience with this? I was thinking maybe I should pay $100 and have Maaco do it or something. I mean all they need to do is sand it and paint the less than 2 feet. Then again, $100 is a $100.

I think I found the answer. I'm going to use 600 grit sand paper and wet sand the hardener/filler.

Then use 1000 grit and wet sand it.

Clean it off with rubbing alcohol to remove any particles.

Apply light coats of spray can.
6-10 coats waiting 5 min between each coat (or until color matches the other panels)

wait 1 hour

apply 6 layers of clear coat with a 5 min wait bet intervals.

This good enough?
