Tweel's.

I forgot where I first read about them, might have been Road & Track or Popular Science. They are interesting for sure.

But what if you get lotsa mud or snow stuck in them?

They are retreadable for life iirc.

Wouldn't centrifugal force send the mud or snow to the outside of the tire and then spin out the sides? At first they look stupid, but look pretty cool here:

yeah, didn't think of that, one off track excursion and there goes the tire balance. maybe in the production versions, there will be some covering or rubberlike skin blocking the openings on both sides.

we were talking to the guy at Michelin at NAIAS about the tweels, he said so far to his knowledge they haven't been tested in winter conditions

what about chainging the 'pressure' of the tire... Those tires are set to have a certain damper on them and thats it...

i think it looks ugly as hell but may be a good idea cus no more flats!!

the only problem i have is price.... i mean they are gonna have to be alot cus its like replacing tires AND wheels EVERY time you need new tires! NOOOOOOOOO!!

they would look better with some sort of sidewall i wonder if the concept version is just cutoff's so you can see whats on the inside?

now you can have spinning wheels with spinning tweels!

never heard of this, but can imagine it could improve performance and driveability and maintainance..
