No, a car is not worth risking my life over. Who know if those kids had guns and would've gotten scared and pulled the trigger? I have full coverage insurance on my cars for a reason.

His reaction isn't anything out of the ordinary. He went out to confront them, some guy jumps out from the side and hit him...so he fought back hard.

What would you do? Run and call 911 first? In that exact moment...doubtful...

And no, that's not directed at you RJ...I'm just saying in general (editing this because I say my post is after yours and looks like I am)

We must live in a different areas or something. I've confronted a thief on my car before, Chris N, lanceh, el pollo diablo, magic hat...all were there. I didn't do anything irrational, just walked up, deactived the alarm, he froze...slowly walked away. That was that.

If I had stood there and called the cops...well, that wouldn't have worked.

If there's 6 guys there, then yeah - I would confront. But at 3am, outside my house... who knows - not worth it.

Well, they were about a half block behind me and missed the situation until the guy was already walking away.

All I can say...it's pretty hard to think straight when you're put in that situation. ...unforunately.

...and teh f00 pretended to be on the phone...lance started asking why he is trying to break into cars...huhu...had like a 30second conversation with the guy with the dude basically saying that he thought it was his car, or some lame excuse like that....a bit on the bizzare side if j00 axe me.

I chased two f00s that were in the trunk of my R...whilst I was in my underwear....and baref00t...a bit stupid in retrospect, but adrenaline just takes over. g00t thing I couldn't run fast on the coars pavement, who knows what would have happened if they two of them decided to make a stand.

The way he described it, it sounds like they were Krypts with the way they had a guy standing on the side. He probably beat them in basketball earlier that day.

I'm referring to pulling a gun WITHOUT ammo, I mean really if your going to pull a gun out either hand it to them or use it properly.

As for confronting them... I know I would try to prevent the theft of my car weather it be the R or a Yugo. But first I would call 911. Running out side in my area with out a weapon of some sort only results in getting beat down. So I carry a large bat but also have a shotgun in the house in case they follow me inside.

call the cops and wait until they come at sunrise. cops

unless you call them and tell them somebody has been shot. maybe theyll come in like 2 hours then.

still not fast enough to catch them on the spot.

Here's a quick thought. Dunno bout other states laws but with all the cars getting stolen out of the garage, is the garage considered breaking into the house cause if it is then you can legally shoot them. I know this is a last resort but if someone comes in my garage I'm going to consider it breaking and entering and I'm surely going to do something about it.
