Default Finally got my K&N filter...

Paid $111.00 CDN for it inc taxes.. The first one I ordered dissappeard some where in Calgary... Very nice. Had to wait another couple of weeks... Finally got it though and installed it today.

This is the only mod I have done to my car, so I can truly tell you if the filter made any noticeable difference. First I must say that I'm dissapointed the filter base is plastic not rubber, like the stock filter. That makes for a poor seal to the air box, but so far I haven't noticed any whistle.. Otherwise the filter is a good fit.

Looks great as well, but of course you can't see it..

I ran the car with the air box lid off just to to see how it felt.. Of course it was raining, so first and second gear are pretty much hop city, but the third gear shift made the front end scrabble side ways quite a lot. In fact it took me a little by surprise and I lifted the gas a bit. It is pretty cold out here so the under hood temp was not high, and the car definately felt like it was making more power everywhere. But the noise...oooh man..

My wife would kill me if I left the car that loud. In my small town it would be like a homing signal for every federali within ten blocks. Sounds awsome though.. like a real car.. a real loud car..heh heh.

I put the lid back on the air box but didn't go out again incase " they " were waiting for me to rip by again somewhere, so I don't know how it is yet in the buttoned up mode... But if anyone cares I should get a chance to rip around tomorrow..

I know this is a pretty boring mod, but I haven't seen anybody post about the drop in K&N filter before..

And I'm a pretty boring guy anyway..

On the plus side, it looks like this K&N will fit great in the nose of the Lotus, and I was wondering what I was going to do with that.. I can use the old stock filter to trial fit then order another K&N...

But not by way of Calgary this time

Wow. Thats a lot for the K&N filter. This is the one that is designed to fit the integra right? Just drop in?

The part # is E-2427, and it is just the drop in filter... Yea big bucks.. welcome to the Canadian dollar..

This filter also fits the GSR as well...

I never priced the OEM unit, but mine was due for replacement soon anyway, so i saved some money there..

I bet the oem one is over $50.

Oh and I got it through my buddy who works at Lordco... it's a 65 store chain out here on the west coast.

Take some pics of the filter. I'm very interested in purchasing either the drop in or a universal filter from K&N.

The pictures would really help me decide.

Thanks for the mini review, Lotus. I'm interested to hear your impressions of the filter with the air box lid on. K&N is really shaftin us with this one. Why is the ITR filter so much more than the base integra unit?? Bend over, boys...

BTW does anyone know why A&J stopped carrying the Monster Filter?? Could it be because it was just as good as the Spoon unit, yet cheaper??

It sorta sounds like the AEM, u can def hear Vtec X-over

It does feel like a noticeable improvement, however, I didn't really want to say anything until I went and dyno'ed it vs the paper filter and the aem....

I took some pics the other day...i'll see if i can go find them

here we go:
