Battery Relocating
Ok guys i wanna relocate my battery to my trunk & I have some questions about it. First I read people using 2 and 4 gauge wire, what's best? Second for the ground wire can I use the same gauge as the power wire or it would be better to use a different one.

I relocated the battery in my old Camry, and 4-ga. wire wasn't really enough. I put a 100-amp fuse next to the battery, and after awhile the wire inside the fuse started to melt from the starter having to pull the current such a long distance through the 4-ga cable. I stepped it up to a 150A fuse, but didn't have the car long enough after that to know how well that worked. I would recommend larger than 4-ga. if you can get it.
I'd go with 2 gauge wire. I dunno if you know the difference between the gauges, but more or less the smaller the gauge the bigger the wire is. Id personaly go with 2 gauge wire. Now you can also go with 0 Gauge, which is what im actually running
for my Amp wiring. You problay wont need 0 gauge but i dont beleive it'll do any harm

yes for the ground you can connect it to the frame. maybe sure when you do connect it though, that theres no rust, or paint or anything like that. you want it to be metal to metal. and for the ground i dont think that it has to be the same size, granted its supposed to be, but if u use a gauge larger it wont make a difference. just dont use 4 gauge for your power and like 10 gauge for your ground
i dont see why you couldnt run 4 gauge??? seems like itd be enough to me. Unless you have like a huge stereo or something... but then... i dont see the point of relocating the battery haha
you very well could use 4 gauge wire, you could get away with 8 but wouldnt go any smaller then that. and correct me if im wrong, but the main 2 reasons that youd relocate the battery is to first off make more room in your engine bay, but more importantly add some weight in the back.

Do NOT use 8 guage wire to relocate a battery. The battery in its factory location already has a 4-ga. unfused connection directly from the battery to the starter, so that's why I said you should probably use larger than 4-ga. if the battery is put in the back and the current has to make that long distance travel all the way up to the starter.

It's the current. Starters can draw more than 150 amps, so be careful. Factory battery setups don't have a normal fuse for the starter. Often no fuse at all.
Normally the big main fuses (150 amp?) carry everything EXCEPT the starter current.

Yeah there are 3 4-ga. cables coming off of Integra positive battery terminals: one to the main 100A fuse in the underhood fuse box, one to the ABS fuse box, and one un-fused cable to the starter.

maybe he doesn't care for drag racing, as I do not, and prefers autox and road racing, like me, where overall car balance is much more important.

what is a battery warm up?
Be advised that if you want to put the battery in the trunk, you must either use a sealed battery box w/ a vent to the outside if you put a regular battery in it, or you must use a sealed dry-cell battery like an Optima battery. Normal batteries vent hydrogen gas, not something you want in the passenger compartment.
