Default How do you know you've blow yer motor ?

I have some probs here and there, but as far as a turbo motor (or otherwise) what are the typical signs of the motor being blown ?

low or no compression, a lot of smoking, irratic idle speeds, poor performance, raddling noises, and/or car does not start at all

Bone,

You must post that picture of the block 10 times a day. It is hilarious but you gotta get a new one.

As for the original question:
A rpm based knocking sound, excessive oil burning, low/no compression on a cylinder. Any abnormal clunks are all signs of the motor being shot.

Metalic fragments in the oil are a sign of rings headed out the door..

How does this happen, it looks like the rod hit the side of the block. Doed the block flex so much that it just makes contact?
