H23 build up questions
I'm getting an H23 long block for $150 complete. I'm thinking of messing around withit a little before slapping it in any car.
From what i've found, I can use the type S pistons, but I will have to stick with the h23 rods. And from what I've found, this should bump the compression up to around 11:1, assuming I keep the H23 head.
I have an H22 head that I can pick up from a friend, but would rather avoid this route, since this will be a cheap, budget, daily driven setup. My other car is boosted, and I put most of the money into that.
Anyway, am I right about having to use the h23 rods if I throw in the type S pistons? and what kind of compression am I looking at?
If I decided to go with the h22 head later on, I've seen figures on 11.5:1...
I've been a D and B series guy forever, and just getting into building up the H's. Any help you guys can give me would be awesome!
Also, the h22 head I can get is missing the valve cover. If anyone has one that they're willing to part with cheap, let me know. I'd like to get one just so the head is complete....

I believe you will have to get the rods rebushed to accept the
floating wrist pin design of the type-s pistons.

I believe you will see higher compression numbers from the h23 head
because of the smaller combustion chamber.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that one though
