The factor is 18.1818

So 14K = 770#

500# = 9.1 K

I thought you were just supposed to multiply by 56

10k = 560lb spring
8k = 448lb spring
6k = 336lb spring

and so on

am I wrong?

56 is pretty close to 55.88, don't you agree.

2.2 lbs in a kilogram, and 25.4 mm in an inch. 2.2x25.4=55.88, or rounded up, its 56.

The K that we're duscussing here is actually kilograms per millimeter (KG/mm), which is another way to measure spring rate. There's also newton-meters (N/m), which H&R uses for their race springs, and then pounds per inch (lbs/in) which Ground Control (Eibach), and others use.
