hah thanks! ther is money on this race, since no school monday.. we doing this sundaynight.. hope everything goes well... if anything, ima jump on em!
If you're evenly matched drivers, the stock type s should take your car. If he's a crappy driver and doesn't know the ins and outs of his car and you know your car like the back of your hand, then you should have the upper hand.

I seen many races between the base and the S models. 0-60 is very close, but the base has a really crappy 3rd gear, and that is where the S will win every time.
The really good upgrade for the base is the race header, or a shorty header with test pipe. That mod seems to really open up the entire powerband of the K20A3 engine bringing it close to the performance of the S. The 6 speed tranny will always help the S though, it would even make a big difference if swapped into lower models.
I'm sure you noticed the difference in power once you installed it.

Seriously...boo to my third gear
Question though. Im picking up a DC shorty some time this week. Is the test pipe where you make like an "imatation" cat? And if so how much of a diff are you lookin at with a shorty as opposed to a race header/test pipe set up?

^^ yes, the test pipe is a larger free flow pipe from the bottom of the shorty header right to the cat back, and eliminates the cat completely. We installed a Megan one on a buddies car a few months ago on a stock car with only an intake and cat back and ran a 15.3 at the track. Considering the altitude where i'm at that's pretty good.
My mone is on u if you can drive as good as ur friend in the type S. I got an EP3 with i/DCRH/ type S midpipe/ stock muffler/ with the rear motor mount/ stock tires and rims and ran a 14.7 @ 93.76 mph. ARZ is on here also and he got almost the same mods as you and ran a 14.2.
I really THink its the Driver the A3 seems to have more Torque and it does seem to get off the line quicker than a RSX. Depending ON driver but The Rsx does have REaL V tec and 3rd gear in RSx Will kill a a3. But seeing #s on what some Ep3 here run on stock tires are quite impressive. Which really shows who the better driver really is.

EPs do not have more tq than S's, hands down the type S will walk your EP.
Just because one EP can run a 14.7 on the track doesn't mean it can do the same on the street. There are alot more variables on the street.
From a dig it'll be close through 1st and 2nd but into 3rd the S has MUCH better pull than an EP, therefore the Type S will win.
From a 50mph roll the EP will have an early jump because the 5 speed is in the power range but the type S will pull as soon as it comes into its rpms and crosses over into vtec.
Prove me wrong and race him!!!

I remember on the Motortrend road test...they got the ITR to run a 14.7 sec stock.
All I am saying is if it a stock RSX-S then Ill take him one (it be a driver race but a little advantage to me because I got better traction with the esmm.)\
Vs. a bolt one RSX-S - no way!!!
