Im not looking to win any sound comp. I just want a decient sound with a lil bass.
keep it simple.</TD></TR></TABLE>Although there are huge diff. in price of speakers, and there are diff. in the the SQ of speakers, [mostly due to matteriels used and engineering] a speaker is a speaker is a speaker, any sub installed into a proper box, and driven with the right amount of power is going to make bass, [ and before anyone jumps in and says you can't make good bass with a Kenwood sub, know that you are wrong] I have more then a few customers that are very happy with there Kenwood subs, I have evan seen people win local SPL comp. with Kenwood subs.
Remembe....its the box, I don't care if you spend $2000 on a top of the line speaker if its not in the proper box and set up right , I will blow it out of the water with a RadioShake POS $20 replasement woofer for one of their Relistic home speakers

seriously, I have a kenwood 1025DB, and it is more than loud enough for me, it just needs a smaller box for a stiffer suspension.... I dont know where you get off calling them sucky.. you must have had a bad power supply, or a bad box... All I know is, while other speakers and subs have been fuller with a lot of bass... Kenwood Excelon equipment is cristal clear, and when powered correctly, has bass...
My sub gets pleantly loud in bass for me... and is VERY clear... can I overpower it? yes... is it because of the box... probably... its as big as it takes for a closed box...
So yes, Kenwood makes a good subwoofer, not the best by any means from what I have heard by more than just haters... But definitly Up There, in the ranks, from what ive heard, their equipment is in the big 3, Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, I like them all... its personal preference from there on in my view.

I have two ten inch kenwood tornado's they were cheap and they're good enough for me. I'd rather make my car fast than drop $X00 on A subwoofer. Make sure you get a small non-ported box. I ported mine cuz everyone said it "ownz the mad notes B" but it was a lot quieter and sounded like gnome farts. Another good thing about em is that the face is plastic and since a got a lot of junk in my trunk theyve yet to get gouged in about 2.5 years.

out of curiosity, what space in CF does each of your 10s have?
out of curiosity, what space in CF does each of your 10s have?
CF means cubic feet, do you happen to know the internal volume for each of your sub boxes? (each one should have its own airspace in the enclosure)
My bad for some reason the only cf that came to mind was carbon fiber. I want to say it was about 1.5 to 2 feet^3. I'm not sure. I know the box is split in the middle so each one has its own little happy space. It's too f'ing cold to go measure a box right now other wise I would.
thanks, hrm, see I have a 1.25cubic foot box, for a 1025db, it may be designed for smaller boxes compared to yours though, right now, It is sorta easy past a certain power to make it hit max excursion, I noticed the problem when I saw it travel about 1CM total, and knowing it has a 9mm almost 2cm, max excursion, ... I turned it up one more notch, maybe 2 on volume control, instantly, it began going to its limit.. so Im thinking ill reduce it to recomended space of .65, need to know how much space the woofer takes though...
