Default Easiest Swap

I searched a little but I couldnt find that much, I was just wondering what would be a direct bolt in motor for an 88-91 crx. The crx has a blown motor and we need a new one but we dont want to rewire and all that other stuff but then again we want a little more power. So if anyone could tell me out of what car an engine would directly bolt in the crx, its pgmfi...

what car would the dohc zc be out of? Just so I can know what to ask for at the junkyard, because I know that one came out of the crx and one out of the integra.

your have to go to a junkyard in japan for that one. the DOHC ZC is out of jdm crx and ef hatchs, and also 92-95 civics as well.

only DOHC ZC youll get at a junkyard here in the u.s. is from an 86-89 teg, which isnt worth it at all.

So out of what car could I pull an engine that will fit in the crx directly without hassle, just bolts in?

i would just go back to the stock a6 (d16a6, stock SI) if you are looking for something to get it running and a simple swap.

There's different dohc ZC's ..Carbed.obd1..etc..
But the one davens was talking about is from a 88-91 j-spec civic/crx SI and is obd0....You can get them for $500 from Hmotorsonline.com..

Thats not a true ZC and doesnt bolt in to the 88-91 chassis..That is a D16a1..Its similar to a zc but true ZC motors have "zc" stamped on the block..86-89 d16a1 does however bolt into the 84-87 chassis..

Any of the DPFI motors from 88-91 should bolt right in your car. You can also use the MPFI D16a6 motor and put your intake manifold on it so you can bolt it into your CRX without any wiring changes. A junkyard is going to charge more than you need to pay for that motor. Most people that swap out their DX DPFI motors will sell them very cheap. I have even seen people give them away for free if you go and pick them up. Post an add in the classified post here that you want an 88-91 DX motor and you should get one for $100 or less.

well yea you're right on the d15b6 = hf part, but that doesn't go with the dual point injection.

dont buy a motor from a junk yard unless you can verrify the true auctual miles. give steve from h motors a call. it shouldnt take too long to ship and you will be verry happy knowing you have a practicaly brand new un abused motor in your car would you pay say $600 for a beat to death motor topping 190K miles or that price for a motor in great condition with 30k? just weigh your options.

GOTTA know what model CRX you've got before we can really give accurate information on what's easiest. What's *easiest* is a stock-for-stock engine swap.

If you're not sure of the last number on your engine, GET SURE. There's a difference between the D15B6-or-7 and the D15B2. The first is an HF engine that's already running MPFI, and the second is a DPFI'd DX engine. Having an HF with DPFI would be a... "unique" situation, and the worst of both worlds.

If you really do have the DPFI, then the easiest swap for you is going to be a DX engine (D15B2, 92hp). Virtually any other swap is going to entail swapping the injection system over to MPFI beforehand, to properly utilize whatever other engine you use.

ya, well my friend took to long in buying the car, it was a nice crx for 350 with a hole in the block, everything else was ok, but now hes looking for a car, I know its a dumb idea asking to buy a car online but if anyone knows anyone or anywhere we could go to buy an 88-91 crx/hatch for no more than 1000. Sumware around the san antonio, TX.
