I just finished installing some ITR cams into my gs-r and for some reason I get a CEL after like 10mins of the car running
So i shut down the car and go to check the code and when I put it in acc. the code disappears???
So then i start it and i dont get a code until like 10 mins of running, but once again it disapears after the car is shut down
I am running the p28 with a kenji chip
Has anyone had this problem b4?
thanks
-Brian

It should flash the code then disappear. Fix the code you see and restart.
When the Vtec SLNOId went out on the Gizzer it did the same thing. Fixed that and it went away. Also the cat went out on the Si and same response.

Yeah it will do that. Make sure you have a good connection to the ECU use wiring not a paper clip. It should falsh the code then stop. Look up the code, fix the situation and restart your car. You shouldnt have a code. Codes usually dissapaer after runnning the car for 10min. Then reappear after shut down and start up.

anyone else have any ideas why this would be happening?
BTW this is the first time I have ever gotten a CEL
BTW this is the first time I have ever gotten a CEL
next time you drive let the light blink for a little while, then check it. the same thing happened to my gsr and i couldnt get a code. Then finally i was like **** it, and i let it blink for a while and the light became solid. From that point on i was able to find out what my problem was. Misfire on cylinders 1 & 2
im not implying that your misfiring
Is the car idling fine? driving ok?

When the CEL comes on while driving, it should NOT flash. It only flashes when in diagnostic mode, i.e. the diagnostic connector has a jumper wire in it.
Try driving it, and when the CEL comes on, go ahead and jump the diag. connector. Don't turn off the car. Then see what code it flashes out.
Also, if there are no codes stored (CEL not on while idling or driving normally), and you jump the diag. connector, then the CEL should come on steady, and NOT flash. That simply means it is now in diagnostic mode and you can do things like check and adjust ignition timing, etc.

Next time I go out for a drive I'll try this
As soon as a code pops up ill pull over and not turn the car off and jump the ecu and see if that works cause if that doenst than I really have no idea what to do

I don't see why, it's not supposed to work that way. The light is supposed to come on when a code or codes are stored in the memory, and then you have to put the ECU into diagnostic mode to retreive the codes.
At least that's how it works with OBD-1 cars.

Thats what i thought too, but it could be an obd1 thing i dont know. I was told that a blinking cel means catastrophic damage may occur to the motor or it means hardcore misfire. here is the link to the thread i started back in december. vtec 69 you may also want to look at this, but i will tell you right now, that my gsr was driving like crap when i got a blinking cel.

ok so i finally was able to read the code
it flashes one time really quickly then pauses for like 2 seconds than flashes 9 times reall quick
so does that mean im shooting 2 codes?
and why would they only come on after driving for like 20 miles under normal drivng?
