Default tein RS, any good?

someone's selling me used tein rs coilovers ( external resrevoir ) for $800, unknown mileage. searched but didn't find much feedback on this setup. is this a good buy? or is it overkill for me, considering i don't go the track that much

You mean RA's? Yes, probably is overkill if you're not tracking your car, and also I wouldn't buy "unknown milage" shocks off someone you didn't know, they could be blown

They are overkill for street-only applications, but for only $800...it's a damn good value.

Do not buy it if you do not track your car often. My friend has it and it feels very uncomfortable driving around the city with it.

I believe he really means they are Tein RS coilovers since he mentioned they have an external reservoir.

$800 for Tein RS = a steal but be careful and check them out beforehand. Probably too good to be true... having them rebuilt will cost a pretty penny.

DO ERTTT !!!

Tien RS with external res ... is definately a steal! Just get them shock dyno'd prior to purchase

I've driven an s2k with the RS and it depends how you adjust the thing.... the ride was not harsh at all, but man... did that thing turn.... just point and shoot!

I have them on my car and yes on the street it is bone jarring. The stock spring rates ar 14 front and 10 rear. Revalving is a bitch because you need to send them to revalve, last time I checked the US office did not do Tein RS's. But for $800, if they are in good condition they are a steal. I got mine for double that and it was still a good buy. Make sure you can at least turn the top and lower settings. Especially the bottom as it is exposed to all the road crap from your tires. See the pic below. The front external reservior( as well as the other three) is exposed to road grime. Here in NY I get a lot of sand and need to clean it often.
