Your VTEC seems to be OK. But you need more air to make your engine breathe...

the H22 is actually in a 92 civic hatch, so buying a intake that fits isnt as easy as it seems. but i should have a 3'' cold air soon.

most of my concern is in the top end after VTEC. as you notice my tq plumets and my HP does go up as it should. i talked to a couple tuners that tune a lot of H22s and they said its the DC header. Because the prelude DC header apparently has a 1.75'' collector and its choking the motor out.

any of you prelude guys have this problem?

nah, you see that big jump at 5k, thats cause the low cam runs out nad it jumps when he switches to the high cam, it should be smooth.

useally 4800 is a good point to start at, but looking at his id say maybe 4600. good way to do it if you have hondata or simlar is set the low cam at like 6000 and tune a little, then set the high cam at like 3000 and tune a little, the point the graphs cross is where to set it at.

this is just a baseline run. This motor will eventually be built all motor. I just wanted to see what i was running currently. Im still wondering about the TQ drop after vtec, and what is causing it.....

I ran a 14.6 at the track, with absolutely NO traction till the end of second gear. my best 60ft was a 2.4

If i could lock up im sure it would be in the low 14s. and with the a new header and Intake id say high to mid 13s.

Donno, but I have the same story. The most suspected is AFR as it drops to 10:1 from 14.5 at the VTEC switch

You're right. But when you consider an almost stock engine without any fuel/VTEC management- it's OK, isn't it?

my bes trap speed was 95MPH, but as you can see fromt he dyno graph i have almost NO top end, so once that changes i should be in the 98-99MPH range.

there is a local shop that ran 12.7 with type S cams and the usual I/H/E in their H22 civic ( 22'' slicks as well) so theres hope for some 12s!

oh ya, perfectly normal, his graph isnt the best i've seen, but damn good. dc headers suck. the colector mod would help it, but a real header, or a turbo , would make a big difference

Dont worry i have a Prospeed header sitting in the garage, I"m waiting for my 3'' AEM intake to come in. after thate i should be in the high 170s to low 180s with some tuning.

I am also in the process of building my other H22 for a FI so i cant waste too much money on this NA motor just yet....

Stock 4th gen A1 and JDM motors always tank like that at high rpms...they need a lot more air. and less restrictive header + exhaust

yea i am currently waging a personal war on DC Sports, since they charged me 50 somethin dollars for a $15 seal kit sent overnite, i received it 1 week later
they refused to refund my money and also refused to provide proof that they actually sent it "overnite".
Anyway ive been pissed at them for a while since its a common fact that their H22a header underperforms overall.
Not to mention after 2 years mine is now rusting heavily from the inside out.

im goin back to the stock h22a header with DFI heatwrap and a straight pipe, that should work out good i hope.
