i was wondering if anyone knows if a t 28 off of a newer style awd talon would work on my gsr w the correct manifolds and whatnot. i think i would need to change one of teh compressor housing right? because those turbos have that kinda long pipe on it . im not sure so any help would be great . thx

 

I think you mean t25..

90-94 have 14b
autos have a 13g

95-99 have the little puny t25,,Thats to small for a gsr motor..It spools by 2000-2500rpm but youll have absolutely no top end power..

I would use a t25 on a sohc..

 

i wouldn't even recomend a t25 for sohc.

 

yeah, the t25 is way too small.. i'd use a 16g at least.... evoIII 16g's are nice turbos

 

go for 16g.

 

Depends on the kind of money you have...power vs. spool time vs. cost i would always choose a 14b...you can run them up to 22 psi (with fuel mods) before shitting out (i know a guy who is running a 14b on an awd at 20 psi with fuel mods and has been daily driving for 10 months on it) plus they are very cheap brand new, and they spool up at 3k with a front mount...that's pretty good i'd say....but yes...nobody can deny t3h pOwAR Uv DA 16GEE!!!

p.s. if you buy a t25 i will shoot you.


But seriously no, you won't have to change compressor housing's on that turbo (or any mitsu. turbo that has the wierd outlet) you will just have to get the correct pipe that comes off the turbo which i've stated in another post is a jay pipe...70 bucks off of http://www.dejontool.com and your problems are solved besides routing the rest of the pipes to it.

 

Wow your first post well let me start of by welcoming you to the H-T FI forum and no like these fellow ht'ers said 2g dsm's came with tinny t25 turbo. However 1g 14b turbo is the best turbo for the buck. There is lots of DSM people runing 12's with that turbo with no juice so it is great turbo and if you go to ebay you can find them dirt cheap. I run 20 psi on mine and when it breaks i got another one in my basement cant beat it for 40 bucks from juckyard.

But please remember that the flanging type is very different than the Garrett turbochargers that you may be used to seeing. please make sure that you use correct flanging (since MHI utilizes Radius flanges, and not just a general T25 that you're used to seeing. An adapter would need to be either purchase or fabricated.

Honestly, IMHO, I've always had issue w/ utilizing turbochargers that weren't properly matched if there are regular alternatives out there and available... The engine flow of a 4G63 is VERY different than that of your GS-R. But that is a whole other story.
