Default (Big) Pic of center lap belt mount with use of OEM belt, for non OEM seats!

This post is of little use to most of you (what else is new ), but for those of you who daily drive with non-OEM seats, this could be of help. I got the idea from the S&M Racing "how-to" on the Evo seat install (thanks again guys!), but I modified it in a way that I feel makes it 100X safer. I can also clip in my lap belt from the 6pt harness.

The clip is an OEM Civic clip from the late 80's. I don't know exactly what car it came out of and what year since I got it from a friend of mine who has boxes and boxes of junk like this laying around his shop. I used eye-bolts designed for harness application, along with a locking washer, a smaller washer for inside the car (the one you can see), a big *** back-up plate, and two lock nuts. I had to drop the b-pipe and remove the heat shield to do the install, but both the shield and pipe went back in with no trouble. Actually, the heat shield sits just a few mm away from the nut in such a way as to keep the nut in place, even if both nuts and the lock washers failed (that's a lot to fail). All in all, it was a pain in the *** but well worth it. Once installed, I can use the OEM belt with any seat. Here's the pic.

looks good! I may do something like this, although Matt suggested welding an integra buckle to the sparco siderail, which would limit the holes i put in the R....looks good!

Aleph,
I needed a bulletproof place to mount my eye bolt for the harness, so this seemed like a good solution. I was looking at the side of the sparco bracket as an option (welding is an option, but you could get away with a bolt too, I imagine), but I wasn't sure how well the eye bolt would work there. I'm happy with this setup, and I KNOW it's roadracing approved, whereas the seat bracket idea isn't.

jeff652,

Yes, but I can't get any more, and I really need some (go here if anyone can help me): https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=108058

They are the "old" kind that were long enough for the job. The new kind aren't, so make sure when you order them you find out the length. I called RW.com today and they said they only have the shorties. I'll let you know where (if) I find the long ones you'll need. I need more for the outer lap belt mounts.

Do the eyebolts really need to be that long? The ones I just got from racerwholesale are about 7/8" long. With the bolt fully threaded on with the washer and backing plate there is still a lot of room. Is the body that thick? I having looked under the car yet so I don't know.

Well, given the difficulty of the install, and the need for something that isn't ever going to fail, I threaded a lot of overkill on to the bolt. It has just enough room for the thickness of the seatbelt ring, a lock washer, an interior washer (just to keep the carpet in check and to have something to tighten against), an exterior backup plate (pretty thick), and two nuts. No extra threads showing. I have a pair of the shorter bolts that I tried to use first, but it wasn't even close. I would have had to ditch the interior washer, the lock washer, and one of the nuts, and even then it was sketchy.
