Default 95 Integra SiR B16A swap finally Complete!!! Project Log! Quick Question too!

Hello,
For everyone that helped me with the ecu question a while back, thanks!

Dec. 22, 2004
Engine arrived from hmotorsonline.com I know i said i was going to use the one from my civic but i had a heart and couldnt start cutting. Anyways EDI express dropped it off at 3:30pm today. I was VERY excited that whole day waiting for it to come. And it did, when i wasnt home. Oh well my sister signed for it. I also had the integra towed down to my shop that day. $130 bucks to get it towed 20 miles! RIP OFF!!! Okay got the car down there and the day ends!

Dec. 23, 2004
Cousin and me took the engine from my house and brought it to my neighbors shop. Took the clean as heck engine off his truck and brought it in. Day ended!

Dec. 27, 2004
SURGERY BEGINS!!!! Well as planned to leave at 8:00am didnt start till 9:30! Oh well! We get there at about 9:45 ish?? he already had the car pushed up on the lift. Know we get ready to start. We get the old engine and tranny pulled by about 12:30 ish. Then we start takling the new one. First i start by taking off the hacked up harness, torque converter flexplate, and p/s pump. Then we bolt up the new transmission and clutch and also move the old wiring harness over. We ran into some issues with the Emissions devices. For ex: no map sensor on TB, hoses were routed wrong. So all we did was swap TB, and T-ed the Purge Selinoid into the FPR vac line. Then we get it all installed at about 4:30ish. Ran into another issue with header downpipe so we used the B18b header! Installed a new clutch and slave cylinder and we were set to go! Finidhed all the hooking up and hoses at; hmm about 6:48pm! Then cranking time. I get it turn the key and nothing. Then i plugged in the battery. Then went for attempt 2 cranked and started right up! Ran and idled great! Couldnt drive home that night because of the humongous hole in the radiator!

Dec. 28, 2004
Got off work at 5pm, was at the garage at 5:15, my neighbor rick already had the radiator installed and was driving it around!! Got to take it home that same night!! There was a major accident on HWY 40/64 so it took a little longer to get home but i was very happy with the ride!! Of course i had to show all of my friends the car!

Dec. 29, 2004
Registering day!!
Well that week earlier the garage door in my moms house broke so i had to wait for the guy to come fix it. Anyways the guy that came was a toyota nut! So i told him my story and how i feel its going to fail emissions with a P75 rich computer, no vtec, and no emissions crap oh yeah and a large leak/hole in the exhaust! So he said well when i needed my cars to pass i just seafoamed them and put 3 bottles of Heat in the gas. I was like heck WTF worth a try. Anyways put it in and it got a FAST-PASS in like 10 sec. literally! Cool hunh?

Ordered my P30 JDM B16A ecu from hmotorsonline.com

Jan. 7, 2003
Installed Ecu and did all wiring!! VTEC!!!! wohoo WOW what a difference!!

FINAL SiR-II B16A engine install pics! (Car is really dirty due to the 6in. of snow yesterday!)

Oh duh! And my question is that the temp outside is like 6 degrees and the car today was hard to start and died after it started.

I then went to start it again and gave it a rev when i started and it was fine.

Is there anyother idea/method for a good cold start. Because it has dont this like 2 more times when it gets below freezeing ?? Would a block heater prevent this or would parking in the garage do also?

congrats, although that b16 isnt any faster than a b18b in a 2700 lbs car.

i hope u're going LS/VTEC or stroke that 1.6L next.

Si-R with a LS tranny?! I know you happy and all but i dont mean to brust your bubble but a Si-R with a LS tranny wouldn"t go anywhere. but it looks nice.

yeah its a b16a, hmm well i am disapointed in the lack of torque-which i knew was going to happen. But when its a long flat out stretch it seems to have a lot more pickup then the b18b1 or thats just me!

Nope im not going to ls/vtec it. Another reason i got this was my friend has a JR supercharger on his 99 wrecked si. It has a crack in the manifold. Weldable. Well anyhow he going to "hook me up" as he says and give me everything for 300 bucks! so thats my plan!

Hmm i dont know how to stroke a 1.6L engine to 1.6L unless you mean like stroke it from like 1597cc's to 1600cc's

Hmm you mean to 1.8L i assume!

I also figure i want to try working with a lower displacement than stock and work from there!

hmm got the engine for 900 bucks! Old engine had a crack in the radiator the length of a fuel rail. bought it from a girl for 300 bucks! Stock b18b1 engine was toast has a broken timing belt and a roasted warped block and head combo.

I also installed a new tranny noticed why i wrote new in there. Its a 97GSR tranny. Engine does have minor mods done to it.(adj.cam gears, crower cams) and soon JR Supercharger.

Id appreciate only positive comments not nothing like "why did you do that" "or thats not fast" or crap like that! I didnt ask what you think, i was merely showing it to everyone!!

Well at least you didn't replace a perfectly good b18b with it. And you have a VTEC transmission so that's good too. Good luck with the supercharging. But don't post if you don't want comments. That's how it works.

personally, that's not the road i would've taken, but its good to see someone with some dedication towards working on a rebuild. to you.

I wouldnt have done the same....but check it out....Get an Si or Civic R tranny to go with that motor....the GSR tranny has too long gear ratios for that motor...you will enjoy the ride much more.

Good Luck!

Thanks, well my last post for the day.

Why not get a GSR engine? Hmm well im a broke 17year old? I looked at it this way i can get the b16a for 900 bucks and the supercharger for 300 bucks also. While GSR longblocks go for like 1700+ dollars hmmm sorry i dont have unlimited funds like you do myDC4rox!

Whats the best transmission for this engine. All i have is the s80 Ls tranny and a GSR which is in there. I really want to get the gsr YS1 from 92-93 teg. But anyother suguestions?

Has anyone had and experience supercharging this engine? Reliablility issues?

I figured i wanted to try something different with this car. So instead of getting the same b18b1 or even a b20 and vtec it later i opted for the lower displacement vtec, and cheapest too. Everyone pretty much has said why not get a GSR engine! Well i wanted to be diff. and here it is.

Andrew

ys1 is a cable tranny, you cant fit it on your hydro base car. Either stay with the gsr tranny or buy a b16 hydro tranny.

you can do it, by getting the hasport mount, and the hydro to cable kit. but why do you wanna use a cable tranny?? like stated above, just go with the gsr tranny, or a b16 hydro tranny.

hehe.. the swap looks clean to say the least.. and it beats a b16 block w/ a GSR head, which is what is on my friend's GSR right now.. but hey, when your motor gives out and you're broke, and someone has a b16 block for free, might as well, right? as long as it all works.
