dude...its only like 2hp, if that! the y8 has a tad bit higher CR and a square combustion chamber... it really isnt worth the work but if u say:
port, polish, and mill the head then do some modds to it...then it was worth the labor ; ... and the extra 2hp

The z6 head will outflow the y8 head. This will benefit you in the future, espescially if you choose to go with a forced induction set up later on, as the intake side of the z6 head does not have the curved split in the tracks that the y8 head does.

actually a difference is that the shift forks inside the d16z6 tranny are aluminum and are prone to breaking under hard shifting, the y8 tranny has steel shift forks

i would love to hear why you think this is true?
even a ported a y8 wont flow as well as a z6. Y8 tranny has stronger shift forks. Same gearing

Echo:
Z6 head > Y8 head
Y8 tranny > Z6 tranny due to shift fork issue.
The Y8 head does rasie CR slightly, but the square chambers are more of an emissions/fuel issue than performance/flow.

Y8 block
Y8 tranny

the Z6 head flows better than the Y8 head
Y8 intake manifold is better than the Z6 intake manifold
its too early to think of why the Y8 block is better than the Z6 block, so tom chime in.
Y8 tranny has the same gearing as the Z6, but is better than the Z6 tranny
Z6 = aluminum shift forks
Y8 = steel shift forks
