So, 4 lug to 4x114 or 5 lug, the only difference is the bearing?

Default So, 4 lug to 4x114 or 5 lug, the only difference is the bearing?

My rear hub/bearing is shot, so I am in the process of shopping for a new one and get it replaced. I have searched on H-T and realise the procedure of doing such job, i.e. take off wheel, caliper and rotor and 32mm spindle nut, take out the old bearing and put in the new one.

So this got me thinking a bit...

So, if I put in a 5x114.3 hub/bearing assembly that can fit a 32mm spindle nut (I know the JDM ITR is 36 right?), then that converts that particular side to 5 lugs. If so, then 4 -> 5 lug isn't that difficult at all?

Am I correct or I am way off base on this one?

Thanks

I asked this question along time ago! I thought of using CRV parts instead! Lets hear if anyone has tried this!

between the JDM 4x113.4 and the 5 lug, swapping the hub part will work. if you have like a civic EX, and you swap to a 5 lug 32mm hub, this will work no problem, how ever double check with the actual spacing, like offset, to make sure rotors/calipers will clear properly. the 4 and 5 lug hubs could have a different offset, like one may be furter out, but in terms of pressing the bearing/hub into any knuckle, the answer is yes. Someone back me up.

i replaced the bearing/hub on my rear disc setup, and all i had to do was remove the caliper, rotor, and the 32mm nut and swap it out. now if i would have gotten a 5lug bearing/hub assembly would it fit? like from a type r or crv or accord? and waht about doing that on the front? its not that simple to swap it out is it

Sounds like something that is totally doable and makes sense, given that the caliper clears the rotor.

If it works, then buying wheels will be so much easier no? Just have a set of bearings for a particular bolt pattern.

yea the problem would be getting 5lug rotors to fit the smaller caliper, unless u drill the 4 lug rotors to make them fit

I thought some 4 lugs Honda shares the same rear caliper as some 5 lugs? I don't know where I get that impression from...

Like is Si rear caliper the same as CTR? or even USDM ITR?
