backfire through the intake

Default backfire through the intake

everytime i try to turn on my car it just backfires through the intake. its a 89 civic hatchback with a b16a obd-0 so any helpful answer or suggestions

Backfiring through the intake sounds like a timing issue or bent
or mis-adjusted intake valves..
Edit:Also check the distributor/cap and the rotor..

its your timeing when i had my d16 it did the same thing because i was off a tooth

usually backfires through the intake means your timing is @ 180 degrees off. Check spark plug wire to see if you have them right.

Backfiring through the intake means the spark plugs are lighting the air fuel mixture while the intake valves are open. This means the timing is off.

no it wont start, it thinks the intake is the exhaust and the exhaust is the intake. Its def. your wire order....

ive been there, done that

check your distributor cap and rotor. ( A bad distributor cap could cause your car to back fire, even to smoke out of the intake )

I suggest you do a tune up.

has it benn raining? did you get the distirb. cap wet? if it did get wet. then thats the cause... it happend to my hatch also. let it dry out or u can open it n dry it. and it should work right up. if not then ur cap must be gone
