Default medium strength swaybar options!??

First of all I wanted to say SWEET, i'm really stoked about this new suspension forum,
I only just noticed it today, but it's something H-T definetely needed!

Anyways, on to my post.
I would like to know what options are out there for a rear swaybar for my car.
I have a 92 cx hatch.

Thing is, I do not want to get too gnarly with a stiff *** bar,
i've already got an oem 21mm front bar(not installed yet), and I don't really
want an overly loose rear end(car sees the street most of the time).

I know there are a few 19mm bars out there,
and I woudln't mind one(probly what i'll end up with anyways if I cant find anything else). But are there any 20mm or 21mm out there?
anything adjustable?

Just lmk what you know about.

thanks!

if you have a front bar then putting on a 22mm rear won't make as a dramatic as an effect as it would if you didn't have any front one.

no I know, I'm not even thinking about runnign no front bar.
But from what i've heard the oem front bar really is pretty mild(probably cuz it has
like gillion bends in it).
also the 22mm's are really expensive..

i'm about a second away from ordering a tcs bar from bodykitsnw actually...

exhaust clearance is important too, this one look good for that(hangs real low under the exhaust piping). and its under 200bux

i would go with something adjustable in 22 or 26. this way with the 26, you can soften it up and witht he 22 you can stiffen it up later on if you want.

Why do you want and adj swaybar?

http://www.a-spec-racing.com - buy a kit w/ an OEM bar from them........ OR drop the money on comptech - you will need a subframe reinforcement no matter what bar you want to run.

the price for the ek kit with 22 oem itr bar from them is $340, Comptech is like $360 street price. Not much of a difference. . .

yep, i like that product,
if I were going to get a subframe reinforcement that'd be it!

but about the adjustability, If I got a 22mm bar i'd want to be able to soften if it up.

that bar is a rip off of the SRR unit which many including RJ. say is a binding crap whole of a mess.

I ran the bar broke one endlink, fixed never had a problem again never felt any snap over steer or anything with it though.

Why? The car will still push w/ a 22mm rear bar

hmm.. well my car is primarily a street car..
so i'm not sure if any "snap oversteer" would be a very good idea for me.

i will see the track, but I mean.. it'll be like one weekend here and there..
and some autox..

****.. great.. now i'm back to being unsure wtf I want
I suppose i'd be willing to go up to a 22mm, adjustability would be nice though.

I don't see where the idea of a 22mm being too big for the street came from. It's not like it is going to make your ride any rougher, or make the car harder to drive.

Besides, if you are pushing your car hard enough on the street to run into a problem as the result of having said 22mm bar, than maybe you need to consider stepping it down a notch.

You will need some big *** spring rates to get snap oversteer on teh street, unless you are just driving like a jackarse

ok my springrates are 450front 350rear, race springs,
and i have koni sp3's.

and yes i'll admit, I drive like I shouldn't! As I said,
I like the track, but it's only every now and then.
the rest of the time my car is on the streets.

I tend to enjoy windy mountian roads,
but i'm not completely insane on them, and would not want a car that has dangerous ammounts of oversteer.

engine puts out somewhere in the 150whp range.

350# springs + 22mm rear bar will not have 'dangerous' over steer but if you drive like a jackass and lift throttle mid corner, it will come around.

otherwise, it will push.

hahaha,
well I know my car well enough to know what happens when you do that.

I was messing around with my shocks today though,
set the front to almost full soft, and rear to full stiff,
I liked it ALOT ! I guess a bigger rear sway would have a similar effect?
as I wouldn't run those settings all the time...

$64 from one of the online discount dealers, or shop cost from a dealer. That's the bar alone, endlinks and brackets/bushings are extra.

hmm, ok.
yeah after seeing how much better my car was
with a full stiff rear and full soft front.. I'm thinking
a 22mm bar would be a good idea.

because the handling really felt even safter than a more understeer prone setup.
and if I want the rear softer, I can tune it down with my shocks later..

http://www.a-spec-racing.com/ would be good.. but they don't have any posted prices, and they don't have an EG kit including the ITR bar..

edit: EEHhhh they do have posted prices... WAY too ******* expensive!! thats nuts,
I could get a comptech or ST setup for that price
