Default Swapping my h23 for a JDM H22....which chipped ecu??

long story short...im swapping a jdm h22 into my 92 si, and before it goes in, its getting a 3 angle valve job, the head shaved and cam gears installed, now with all that being said...im looking into ecus and im looking into Skunk 2, Mugen or Jun chipped ecus. I talked to one guy who said he used a skunk 2 daily driving, but when he goes racing he uses the jun one....

i was just wondering if there any pros or cons to either one, or if youve heard anything on it for any input, thanks

chipped ECU's are horrible. Sure some of those chips work for the exact cars and setup they had when they wrote the file, but each car and its history is different. i would suggest staying away from these little chips and go for a piggy back or full stand alone. try hondata or uberdata. Or hell, just get a VAFC because you havent really modified anything cept a valvejob and cam gears. I can almost promise you with your stock motor and a jun chip you will blow your motor.

really? so you think i'd be better off with just a stock usdm p13 ecu, and getting a vafc to tune it?

Steve if i find out you are running just a chipped ECU ill fly back and kill you.

get a vafc at least. but i would suggest a Hondata. a P100 should be about the same price as the VAFC and i think shad prefers hondata (if you're having him tune it).

i know, thats what im thinking....i guess im just waiting for someone to chime in and say they've had no problem w/their chipped ecu, but i mean i have a feeling ima just go with a stock one and tune/run it with a vafc......

yeah stock ecu since your engine is gonna be stock. afterall a 3 angle valve job is stock, and slightly higher compression from head shaving wotn gain that much anyway.

get a real ecu.

P13 OBDI

or go do it for real and get

P28 + Hondata

don't spend money on a garbage ecu.

I agree with Satan. My advice after experiencing a million problems with my swap is to go with the P13 initially. If everything is running fine then look to the P28 and run Hondata. But as everyone will say...a chipped ECU is not tuned to your car....which means problems.
