Alternato belt frayed, you think I can make it home?
Well on my way to work today, I started getting a nasty noise from under the hood. I pulled over and noticed the alternator belt was fraying and pretty much shot. Question is, could I drive the 6 miles back home tonight if I cut it off? It really hurts the car running while its eating itself up like it is. I just dont know how long the battery will last.
hope this helps, i was driving home from a city nearby, when suddenly the alternator belt just popped up, and this was a night too, so i have the lights on, but i drove 20 miles to get home, and it didn't die.

well I went back to it and cut the alternator belt, but something else is wrong and I'm getting it towed. ******* sucks, something else rotating is making a **** ton of noise but the timing belt seems like its tight.
Edit: could a mod put the "r" in alternator just so its searchable. as worthless as this post seems, its stupid to have things lost forever because I didnt spell check.
