Never had to lift my car. Just make sure that it's on level ground, or really close to level. No forcing either. I put a neuspeed bar on and it just popped right on. Took me about 15 min. because I work slow, and I had to remove a fitting that held a hose on the engine. Other than that, it's a fast and easy install.
