Well, I thought of taking advantage of the "cooler" weather here in S. Florida and see if I would notice any gains by removing the air filter cover off the ITR. Biggest difference, noise. That box must really quiet down the cam noise a lot. Once I removed the top and at full throttle it is just plain LOUD. I like it though. I began to notice a better "pull" from 4th gear at highway speeds. No other mods. have been done so the heat shield is still in place so I figure it will keep most of the heat away from the filter intake. I have replaced the stock filter element with the Comptech foam element but this was done a year ago.

 

Is the resonator you are talking about the plumbing that goes down into the tirewell?

 

hmm.. on my R when we do dyno, we tried removing the air box cover..
the result? No Gain at all... funny, eh? it is loud though...
