what mods are on ur tranny?
hi,
im working on the finishing my all motor build.
last piece is the transmission... ive read people post about welded diffs? i have no idea what that is, if someone could help.
also, i have a cable b16 tranny, that im probably lookin to use in my crx. what kind of lsd should i get? what else should i do to beef up the tranny?
my motor should make ~215whp so the tranny needs to be strong, but not insanely so.
thx.

If its drag only you can weld the diff or go with a spool (we have a used prodrive for sale, cheap
) or if street driven go with a quaife. I just finished building a customers S1 cable trans with the Gear-Speed brass synchronizer rings and plus a little of my own love I put extra to make it shift even better. Trans feels great and shifts like a hot knife through butter at 8500rpm.

The shock and stress put onto the gears of a high hp all motor car are much greater than 350whp boosted hp.
Thats what kaptr1d is wanting to know.

yup. thank u for understanding.
~210hp all motor is very different from 350hp in a turbo car...
my cable b16 tranny is fairly new, doesnt have any grinds. i think im just gonna get an aftermarket diff. anyone have personal experience with kaaz, quaife, obx, phantom, oem type-r, etc.
thanks.

ooops, didnt read the full post! (********). i use a quaife, and have no complaints whatsoever. its a little pricy, but i think well worth it! at least on a turbo car.

I would not use a welded diff or a spool on the street it is hard to turn and it can destroy cv joint but if you can find a lsd off a jdm tranny that is your best bet.Quaife is a good product but it is pricey, but if you are going to have a street car this is good and it has a hell of a warranty.
I used ATS till they blew up, now I went back to Honda stuff. I might break it but parts are readily available and inexpensive.
Speaking of which, I have a tranny for sale seeing that I do not need the B series stuff anymore!

i guess they mean intial shock/power to the trans so early in the power band unlike later in an FI application. it doesent sond right but add if u like

All motor pretty much dead hooks with slicks. Turbo you pretty much always have some type of slip, thats why.
Then again its all in your driving style too. I dont see how people break axles with only 175whp but it happens

well breakage of axles could deff come from driving style. whether shear power breaks axles or not, even with 175 hp if the axles arent preloaded the intial shock/stress to the axles can break them, esspeciallly where that shock is much greater in an n/a application where power is at its peak before an FI application
