Default 97 Civic Ex Help

What is the best way to get a 97 Civic Ex down into the mid 15's hopefully for around 1000 dollars. No nitrous though.

You can't get it in the 15's? Shouldn't be too hard.

Go with your basic bolt-ons i/h/e. Throw in a zex cam, valve springs and you should be in the 15's.

I would go with a home made turbo... start salvaging local junkyards for parts... and what you can't find you can pick up on the internet... my friend my his home made intercooled turbo for around 500 bucks... if you are not up for or can not do this kind of work i suggest you try to find a used turbo kit of someone... just bolt it on with stock internals and boost at about 6 psi... start looking in the classified sections for used turbo kits... ex civics can be made pretty fast with a little time.

do you think this setup is a good setup with stock internals

does any one know if this setup will produce some good power ???????????/
i got a 98 civic ex sohc 1.6L v-tec i am planning on buying this.

(1) Garrett 42/.48 A/R T3 (oil cooled w/ internal waste gate) The Turbo is in good condition, it was recently rebuilt with NEW Brass Bushing, Seals, etc. etc

(1) Oil Feed Line

(1) Oil Return Tube & Hose

(1) HF Manifold

(1) HF Manifold to Standard T3 Professionally CNC Machined Adapter
with Studs, Nuts & Washers

(4) 450cc Injectors

(1) 165 LPH Fuel Pump

(1) Side mount intercooler (Even though the bling bling FMIC is nice, this small guy

mounts for easy hiding.)

(1) Set of Mandrel Bent Aluminum Intercooler Piping

(1) Set of Intercooler Hose

(10) Intercooler Hose Clamps

(6) Small Hose Clamps

(2) Large Hose Clamps

(1) Mounted Eclipse 1G BOV

(1) Honda Resistor Box (just in case you need it.)

(1) Faze Boost Gage

(1) Oil Pan Tap

(1) Up Pipe Hose

(1) Down Pipe designed for quick bolt up

(1) Turbo K&N Style Max Flow Air Filter with angle bend

(1) Set of vacuum lines and T's

Stutter Box at 3500 RPM's. This ecu is hard to find and expensive.

We are talking about a car with 99k miles, wouldnt turboing it be equal to waking up in the morning and before doing anything else running a mile? i dont want my poor engine to endure that. think i should just try to swap it?

99k and the motor is just starting to break-in.

The problem with turbo charging a stock ex is that the cylinder walls suck. You would most likely end up blowing it up if you put more than 6-8psi to it.

If you get the turbo setup correctly and fuel management it will be fine with low boost.
