I know the title sounds dumb. But I have one day to get all the rest of my turbo components on and to have my car undrivable. so im trying to get everything that I can install now out of the way. If I install it now would it hinder the performance of my car? or will it just keep the car running after turned off depending on the rpm signals t recived while driving?

 

You can still install it. It isn't gonna affect anything on your car. It will just work as normal unless you turn it off it just wont keep the car running.

yea, it doesnt affect the car.....my buddy has a turbo timer on his all-motor ITR and it works fine.....He uses it to keep hot oil from staying up on the cylinder head after shut down. If hot oil stays up there, then it will cook itself on the valve train i guess......keeps cooler oil flowing up top until the engine finally shuts down.

 

If you're pressed for time you could skip the turbo timer, since it doesn't do anything that has anything to do with making the car drivable, turbo or not. Basically you don't need one at all so it could be put off indefinitely

Things that do matter like the intercooler/bumper cutting and boost gauge should be done before you put the turbo on if you only have one day. Also, any fuel management (uberdata, FMU, AFC, injectors, pump etc..) should be done before the turbo install too. If the exhaust fasteners might be rusty soak those in penetrating oil a few times before the install. Those things would be far more productive than the timer IMO

Turbo timers are for ricers...

The only reason I would get one is if I had like a $1,000+ ball bearing turbo that was actually worth something. I just have a cheap t3 turbo, so if I am in a hurry I don't care about shutting the car down right away. I'm not going to pay $100 when I can just sit in my car for a minute or two.

 

^^ i always turbo time, 110 seconds, all the time, even short drives, and my turbo timer goes up in time, if i rip on the kit, or stay in higher rpm's, i have done 8 min cool downs before.

Why would you turbo time your car on a short trip for 2 minutes if you never even boost? 8 minutes also seems like an EXTREMELY long time, your probably just wasting gas.

 

8 minutes is not a long time for a long trip, sometimes when i go on long trips my auto mode goes all the way up to 10 minutes, plus i wait another 10-15 minutes to properly let it cool down

 

its overkill.. just don't beat on it for a little while before you park... make sure your at idle when you turn the engine off

 

yeah I have one day to have my car down but I already have the vac mannifold on,emenage,boost gauge, and I test fit the IC piping and am going to cut the bumper and mount the IC, Turbo timer, and boost contoller this weekend.

 

**** you could even install the IC and IC &gt; TB piping and bov and just slap a filter on the turbo side of the IC for now. then you have no work left but the mani, turbo DP part. plus just think how cool it would look with a bov and no turbo

 

I know if you do it Lightning Motorsports has harnesses for civics and integras that make it super easy to install

 

Plain and simple, yes you can install it on an N/A. Just soder it to the correct wires by the ECU and you're good to go.

damn you only have one day to do the turbo stuff? Thats gonna suck because usually something WILL go wrong and you will have to prolong it another couple of days to wait for a part or something.

 

yeah, if all goes well, it should take roughly 2 days

 

why you would wanna put a turbo timer on your N/A car?
