tb spacer?
has ne ever used a throtle bodie spacer, i got one wit a package of parts but i blew my motor up before i got to put it on, just wondering if they do ne ting?
Never used one, but the theory behind them isn't a bad one. I've got one that I'm still working on finishing (when and if I ever get time to work on it again, that is). I'm using a Phenolic material, which is a great insulator/heat sink, so the gains should be on a couple fronts: 1) Keep the TB cooler, helping to keep the intake air temps a little cooler. Obviously this is going to be most effective when coupled with a phenolic intake manifold spacer/gasket, too. 2) A TB spacer *might* help torque a little bit, too (very little, would be my guess), by making the intake runners effectively longer than stock.
Any of these changes would likely be minor, and probably not worth doing on an average street car. These are the kind of tricks that true racers will emply, though, because depending on the events and classes you run in, these are the types of things that just might give you what Penske called "the unfair advantage". If your car is 0.003 seconds faster because of these kinds of tricks than the next guy, then at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
Another quick way to cool down the TB is to bypass the coolant line that feeds coolant through the TB, if your car is equipped with such a line. Most EFs are. Depending on where you are (SoCal or TX, for instance) you might not ever really get cold enough for that line to be necessary.
