Okay, so i bought a motor that had been hydrolocked. i take off the oil pan, and everything is alright. Look at the valves and the head, and everything is ok.
Now, what other things should i be looking for?
also, since my motor in on the floor, should (if i turn it with with 17mm socket) the crank pulley move? because i tried moving it and the bitch is harder than a hung horse on a sunny day.
I dont have the flywheel on if that matters.
TIA

Is the head off of the block? Maybe try turning it backwards, and spray some penetrating oil on the cylinder walls. Since it was locked, it will probablty take alot of force to turn it initially.
i thought when an engine hydrolocks the internals melt together cuz its like a motor w/ no oil since the oil was neutralized cuz of the water?
So, if im right...y would u want to buy a useless heep of metal?? ....unless you got it for like $20 and u wanna clean it up and have it sit in ur room or something...

Spray some penetrating oil down into the spark plug wells, PB Blaster works really well. Then take a dowel rod (cylinder shaped stick of wood), insert into plug wells to touch the tops of the pistons, then gently tap each one with a mallett to loosen them up. Maybe that will work, couldnt hurt.

An engine will hydrolock when too much water gets into the combustion chamber. Since water is not compressable, this can cause the engine to lock in place. Sometimes, with lots of luck and depending on engine speed at the time of lockage, the damage is minimal.
hydro lock can happen with fuel too.
There was a hotrod in our shop and they guy mounted the fuel tank above the carb. The carb was leaking fuel into the motor and filling the cylinders with gas. If he had tried to start it, it woudl have done the same thing.
Just a FYI kinda thing.

OK, so an engine with too much of ANY kind of fluid in the combustion chamber will hydrolock. Either way, did you have any luck with your engine?
