Default Best Lube for Polyurethane Bushings?

Evening,

This weekend I pressed in the rear lca polyurethane bushings from energy suspension. I used up all the lube they provided with the kit because I don't want them to squeak. I lubed the crap out of them.

I still have to press in the front lca bushings. What's the best lube I could use for this job. I really don't want them to squek.

Thanks,

George

I need to replace mine to, i would like to know this.

how did you know that you needed new lca bushings anyways? because when i drive over bumps my suspension rattles and all the shops blame it on the bushings that have gone bad. Just wondering what you think.

Well I've been wanting to change mine for a while now. I guess you need new bushings if they're twisted or if there is any play in them at all.

My suggestion is that you have someone press them out and you press them in. It's a simple job to press them in if you have a vice.

Does anyone know if there is a good lube that Wal-Mart carries so I can get it now and do them tonight while watching TV? No one say K-Y.

well come to think of it maybe some kind of graphite powder would lube it up. But im really not sure for a good lube for those type of bushings. so kind of petroleum based oil, there is some blue stuff in a can that may work.

I dont even have a vice since i moved, so i will have to have a shop do it all i hate depending on other people for car work

Not true. You can:
a)Burn out the old bushings yourself.
b)Buy a vice at home depot, use it, then return it.

What about white lithium grease, would that be long lasting?

Best grease I've found is Marine-type grease for boats/trailers. It's impervious to water. Be sure to wear gloves....PITA to remove from your hands.

I used Mobil 1 Synthetic grease about a year ago when I installed poly on my car. Only ones that are squeaking are the front uca and thats because I used the grease that came with them. Ill be taking them out and lubing them up again.

i'm telling your right now, use the grease they provided. if you ran out, you can buy extra tubes from summit racing for around $5.00. Any other grease won't last.
http://store.summitracing.com/...h.asp

a little of that stuff goes a long way, i know because i just put prothane rear LCA bushings and trailing arm bushings in my EM1. you really didn't need to lube the sleave as you were pressing it in cause that thing is not going to move. all you need to lube is the red part inside and out. and as you put those pieces in the extra will just build up along side. use that to grease the other one. Mine don't squeak at all.

**and i disagree with being able to press them out with a vice. its not worth the time and aggravation, and you'll end up destroying it when you put the new sleeve back in. Pay a local shop the $40.00 to do it, cause you'll be wasting hours of your time trying to do it yourself. i ended up bending the bar on the vice trying to do it,

Wow, old thread. Well it's been a long time since the bushings have been in my car. I just used the grease they provided in the kit ( I found some more) and that's been working fine. They don't squeak.
