Default auto tranny and ecu ???, yes...i searched first

I searched H-T and google for 3 days and cant find what im looking for, maybe you can help:
ive got a 98 ls block (obd2) with auto and gsr vtec head. i cant use the p28 because my car has a seperate transmission control so that means i cant use vtec. i cant use the the stock ecu because its not obd1. i know i can convert to vtec but that doesnt make it obd1 and i want to know if you can somehow control the tranny with the p28 instead of the TControl. if you know anything about this let me know, i dont want this vtec head to go to waste. i want to keep the auto because 1. its better for bracket racing 2. i like being different

thanks for any help

i heard that there is a JDM "AUTOMATIC" vtec tranny! and some junkyards in CA should have it. look up "automatic gsr" in the ht search engine and take it from there.

Why can't you just use a chipped ECU from an OBD2 Civic EX automatic? You would probably need to change to a Skunk2 intake manifold since it wouldn't be able to control the dual stage intake manifold, but it would have automatic transmission capability as well as VTEC. Just chip to to suit the air/fuel needs of the LS/VTEC setup.

i cant do that because my tranny is controlled by a seperate trannny control unit. i anyone knows how to redirect that control to the ecu let me know, thats really what im looking for is someone that knows how to work with the ecu and actually knows which wire goes where, etc. thanks

Why do you have a separate control unit for the tranny? Was your car not originally automatic transmission? Do you not have the engine harness for an automatic tranny? If you use a Civic EX auto engine harness and a chipped Civic EX auto ECU, then the ECU will control the tranny.

from what i understand from 98-01 integra ls/gs autos used a seperate TCU. would the civic engine harness work? i havent heard that but i dont doubt it. the ecu i have is a civic ex (p28). i just dont know how to feed the tranny info from the ecu instead of the TCU.
